Selfie donation campaign raises €350,000 for Gavin in just one week

Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, four-year-old Gavin Glynn this week finally made his way to the U.S. in hopes of receiving a life-saving treatment.

At the young age of 17 months, Gavin had developed signs of Rhabdomyosarcoma (commonly known as RMS), a rare cancerous tumor that effects the muscles.

By the time he was 4, he was unable to undergo further treatment within Ireland as no other options existed. Therefore, his parents had to look abroad, eventually finding a new procedure that has been introduced at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Now after a successful donation campaign, Gavin has landed in Texas to receive the HIPEC procedure - hopefully removing his tumors permanently.

However, Team Gavin Glynn needed to raise €350,000 to cover the medical costs of the life-saving procedure. So in hopes of promoting the cause and raising some much needed funds, Team Gavin Glynn encouraged parents to take selfies with their sons, while including the hashtag #MyBoy, along with sending a €4 donation via text message.
